VISITING WRITERS FESTIVAL AT CONCORDIA

The Concordia College English Department will present the Visiting Writers Festival Wednesday, Oct. 4-Friday, Oct. 6, in the Morrie Jones Conference Center A/B, Knutson Campus Center. A public reading will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, is free and open to the public.

Each fall, the English Department invites three writers to campus to read their work, conduct master classes, participate in a student-moderated panel discussion about writing and literature, and visit classrooms. The department invites a poet, a writer of fiction, and a nonfiction writer or journalist to participate.

This year’s writers include poet Denise Lajimodiere, author of “Dragonfly Dance,” a collection of poems written from the point of view of an American Indian woman; Alan Davis, author of the collection of stories “So Bravely Vegetative,” winner of Prize Americana for Fiction; and Michelle Leon, author of “I Live Inside: Memoirs of a Babe in Toyland” about her rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle in a punk/alternative band that started in Minneapolis in the ’80s.
