Background
Dr. Ellig joined the faculty at Concordia College in 1982 after previously teaching at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He retired from Concordia in 2023 and returns periodically as an adjunct instructor. His teaching interests are wide ranging and include introductory sociology, research methods/statistics, social inequality (including racial/ethnic exclusion), life course sociology, globalization, and development. He developed and led travel seminars to Europe and South Africa focusing on social exclusion and taught Summer School Abroad courses in South Africa and Europe focusing on social inequality, global studies, and development. He has also published in the areas of gerontology and global learning outcomes.
In his spare time, Dr. Ellig enjoys being a news junkie, reading, cooking, traveling, and taking walks with his partner, Donna.
