Roger Anda grew up in Moorhead, MN, and graduated from Moorhead High School. Elizabeth “Betty” Anda grew up in the Fargo area. When asked about some of his best memories growing up in Moorhead, Roger will often share stories about sneaking into Memorial Auditorium-Gymnasium to play basketball with neighborhood friends. He even recalls a time when he was locked in Memorial Auditorium-Gymnasium overnight. Roger fondly remembers Jake Christiansen and Sonny Gulsvig as mentors and friends.

Roger and Betty Anda didn’t attend college, but had they done so, Concordia would have been one of their first choices according to Betty Anda. “Roger and I started working at a very young age. We did not come from wealth. We learned early on that responsibility and good work ethics matter, and they have not failed us.”

Roger and Betty have been friends of Concordia College for more than 40 years. In 1974, Roger Anda made his first C-400 gift to the college in memory of his first wife. Bernice. The Andas have spent their lives building and growing Anda Construction/Properties, a family-owned business since 1969 that provides affordable housing with many amenities throughout North Dakota and Minnesota. Betty stated that “with success comes hard work, long hours, responsibility, integrity, giving back to your community, and a vision to help people make their life a success. We have always held in our hearts ‘To whom much is given, much is expected.’”

The Andas’ keen sense of managing business opportunities and potential risks has earned them a place near the top of Red River Valley business owners. Roger and Betty Anda are interested in supporting business students who will make a meaningful difference in the world both locally and beyond. “We believe Concordia College will create leaders, entrepreneurs, and educate people who will care for others and make a difference,” they said.

The Roger and Elizabeth Anda Endowed Scholarship in Business is awarded by the Financial Aid Committee. Selection will be based on financial need and scholastic achievement.
