The Concordia Faculty Research Endowed Fund was inspired by the excellent mentorship and teaching of the Biology Department at Concordia College from 1962-1966. In particular, Professors Elinor and Olaf Torstveit, along with Professor R.E. “Ed” Fuglestad, were key faculty mentors who saw the potential in students and encouraged excellence.

The purpose of the Concordia Faculty Research Endowed Fund is to provide funding for faculty research and professional development. Preference is given, but not limited to, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) faculty research. It is the hope that supporting excellence in undergraduate research will serve to attract and retain the most talented individuals to support Concordia’s mission of teaching, discovery, and outreach.
