Established on 06.21.2021 by John '66 and Eileen '68 Quello  

John and Eileen met at Concordia in 1965 during a “Marriage and the Family Class.” In 2021, they celebrate 54 years of marriage; they've earned an A!!!!!!

John Quello grew up in Eau Claire, WI, and Fargo, ND, and received a B.A. in philosophy from Concordia in 1966 and a M.Div. from Luther Theological Seminary in 1970. He has served as a pastor at two churches in Minnesota followed by 40 years of experience as a financial advisor.

John viewed his work as a stewardship counselor as God’s work and was privileged to serve on many church related boards, including Concordia, Augustana (Sioux Falls), Luther Seminary, The Good Samaritan Society and the ELCA Foundation. John has been the president of the Sheldon Reese Foundation for more than 30 years.

A native of Madison, MN, Eileen Sletten graduated from Concordia in 1968 with a B.S. in elementary education. She taught at schools in Columbia Heights, MN, and Brooklyn, NY. When their marriage was blessed with children, Sara ’93 (Goldstrand) and Nathan ’96, Eileen became the CEO of Family Love and Encouragement. She has now moved onto the role of Grandmother Nirvana to six amazing grandchildren: Anna, Ingrid and Kaia Goldstrand; Brita Bergen and John Quello.

John and Eileen have lived lives of service and been philanthropic leaders in their communities. John was a founding member of the Luther Seminary Foundation Board of Directors from 1988 – 1998 and has faithfully served Concordia College as a class agent, reunion giving committee member and on the Board of Regents from 2005 – 2016. Eileen has also served as a Concordia reunion giving committee member and also on the board of the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation.

The John and Eileen Quello Endowed Scholarship is awarded to students of any class majoring in education. Selection will be further based on financial need.
