Established on 08.12.2015 by Dr. Hadley Verwest  

Dr. Hadley Verwest grew up on the family farm at Finley, ND where his mother was a nurse and his father farmed. Hadley graduated from Concordia College in 1959 with a degree in biology. He went on to medical school at the University of North Dakota and completed his training at the University of Kansas. Following service in the United States Air Force, which included a tour on Easter Island, Hadley completed a residency in ophthalmology at the prestigious Denver Memorial Eye Clinic in Portland, OR. He returned to MN and practiced in St. Paul. He is a faithful member of Price of Peace Lutheran Church in St. Paul where he has volunteered his time for Meals on Wheels, bell choir and a variety of committees. Prince of Pease also bears Hadley's fingerprints in stained glass windows which he created. An avid reader, gardener, cook and artist, Hadley's life of faith and service reflects the mission of Concordia College. This scholarship for students who will follow in his footsteps in the medical profession reflects his generous heart an vision for the future.

The Dr. Hadley Verwest Endowed Scholarship is awarded by the Office of Financial Aid to one or more pre-med students. Selection is based on scholastic achievement and financial need.
