Bill and Anne Craft have a deep-rooted belief in the virtue and value of a college education. They grew up in a western Pennsylvania town, where Bill’s father and grandfather built many of the campus buildings at Westminster College and where Anne’s father was a history professor. Their mothers taught elementary school, and each earned a master’s degree from that same hometown college. Bill spent more than 43 years as a college professor and administrator: after earning his doctorate at UNC-Chapel Hill, he taught English at Mt. St. Mary’s College for 20 years and was the dean of undergraduate studies. He was then called to become the Vice President and Dean of Luther College, where he served for 11 years. In 2011 he became Concordia College’s 11th president, serving 12 years until 2023. Anne, too, worked at colleges, teaching first-year courses, supervising tutors, and working in college access and student support, including her time on staff at Concordia’s Center for Student Success. They are delighted that this scholarship enables students to prosper at Concordia College.
