Dear Cobber community,
As we approach the Thanksgiving season, even in the midst of a global pandemic, it is an appropriate time to reflect on the many blessings for which the Concordia community is being called to be grateful. As you view this year’s annual report, may you be reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul as recorded in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “give thanks in all circumstances.”
We are called to be grateful for our students as they inspire and challenge us with their enthusiasm for learning and involvement even in the midst of unprecedented days. Their intense dedication and support of each other as they learn and grow is truly exciting! No doubt, the current students of the college will “influence the affairs of the world.”
We are called to be grateful for our faculty. It is obvious they care deeply about our students and their desire to be grounded in the liberal arts. The faculty’s creativity in the midst of the pandemic is nothing short of remarkable. Their achievements in education, service, and scholarly activities continue to contribute to the first-rate reputation of Concordia.
We are called to be grateful for our staff members. Concordia depends on staff in so many ways to support the mission of the college. The staff keep things up and running across the college on a daily basis. These past months, this has not been an easy task. Their commitment to the college’s mission, vision, and values is deeply appreciated.
We are called to be grateful for alumni and friends who support and promote Concordia in myriad ways. The work they do and the networks they represent are truly remarkable. They are generous donors of time, talent, and treasure. They believe an investment in the future of Concordia! As you will see in the annual report, last year was a record year in giving.
Finally, we are called to be grateful for families and friends who encourage Concordia students and support the entire community in so many ways.
Yes, Paul had it right. We are called to “give thanks in all circumstances.” At Concordia, there is no shortage of reasons to be grateful. And now, the most important message of this note … we are grateful for you!
In Christ,
The Rev. Terry A. Brandt
