CONCORDIA INVITES COMMUNITY TO DISCUSS BUILDING A MORE TRUSTWORTHY WORLD

Event kicks off new year of Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work Conversations

In 2022-23 the Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work, part of the Concordia College Offutt School of Business, will explore the question “How do we build a more trustworthy world?” The August Conversation: “A Time to Build: From Family and Community to Congress and the Campus, How Recommitting to Our Institutions Can Revive the American Dream” featuring Dr. Yuval Levin, is noon-1 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Aug. 31. The event is a hybrid in-person and virtual conversation in Barry Auditorium in the Grant Center. You’re invited to bring your own lunch to the in-person event.

Levin will discuss his book, “A Time to Build: From Family and Community to Congress and the Campus, How Recommitting to Our Institutions Can Revive the American Dream.” He argues that Americans are in the midst of a social crisis in which cultural forces are eroding some of our most important democratic institutions. Resisting the trend to tear down, Levin instead calls for a recommitment to institutional building for the sake of revitalizing the American dream.

Dr. Yuval Levin is director of Social, Cultural, and Constitutional Studies at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where he also holds the Beth and Ravenel Curry Chair in Public Policy. The founder and editor of National Affairs, he is also a senior editor at The New Atlantis, a contributing editor at National Review, and a contributing opinion writer at The New York Times. Levin served as a member of the White House domestic policy staff under President George W. Bush. In addition to being interviewed frequently on radio and television, Levin has published essays and articles in numerous publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and Commentary. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D from the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.

The event is free. Please register at ConcordiaCollege.edu/lorentzsen. Call 218.299.3305 for more information. A link will be sent after registration for those choosing the virtual option.
