It can be tough to make time to be physically active during college. With classes, clubs, extracurriculars and friends, exercise tends to get pushed under the rug. However, it is possible to stay active, and it can be a great way to step away from the books and destress. Let me give you some insight into free opportunities to stay active on and near campus:

Athletics

Cobber athletics includes 22 competitive teams – 11 men's and 11 women's – ranging from men's wrestling to football and women's hockey and swimming.

Olson Forum

Olson Forum is our student wellness facility. It hosts basketball, volleyball, tennis and badminton courts; featuring an indoor track, weight equipment, stair-stepper, treadmills, ellipticals and more.

Intramurals

Concordia offers a co-ed intramural volleyball league in the fall and a men's and women's intramural basketball league in the winter. It's free to participate, so all you need to do is organize a team and sign up.

Club Sports

Even if you're not a student-athlete, there are still club teams that you have the opportunity to be a part of. Concordia has both men's and women's lacrosse teams, a traveling Ultimate Frisbee team, cheer team, and more.

COBBikes

COBBikes are available to check out from the library with your student ID. You can have the bikes for up to six hours, which is plenty of time to cruise one of the multiple Fargo or Moorhead bike trails.

Swimming

The Concordia pool has both lap swim and open swim hours and a sauna open Monday through Friday and Sunday during the academic year.

CEC Fitness

Campus Events Commission hosts various exercise classes and events every 2-3 weeks; Zumba, yoga, pilates, and Fun Runs are just a few examples. Events and classes are free for students and are usually held in Olson Forum or outdoors to they're at a central location for both on- and off-campus students.

Fargo-Moorhead Trails

There are plenty of trails not only for biking but also hiking and running that can easily be accessed from campus.

No matter what your exercise preference, there is something for you on campus. And don't forget – you can always grab some friends and organize a pickup game or activity of your own!
