Future Road Map: Update to the Strategic Plan
Dear Colleagues and Friends of Concordia College,
We are entering an exciting new era in Concordia’s legacy. Enrollment has increased, new academic programs are beginning, and there is a renewed sense of energy and excitement on campus. As we move deeper into the fall semester, our students are inspiring us with what they are creating and accomplishing both in and out of the classroom.
As we celebrate the exciting things happening on our campus, we also contemplate the hard work we still have ahead of us. I am excited to share with you an important update to the “Concordia Leads” strategic plan, a plan that builds on the work we’ve done and positions us to accomplish even more in the years ahead. As we reflect on Concordia’s mission and this crucial moment in the college’s history, we are driven by a sense of purpose, urgency, and momentum to grow and even thrive. Our commitment to excellence in academics, the arts, athletics, inclusion, and holistic care for our people and the campus community remains the foundation of everything we do.
In this updated plan, we have focused on five key areas — academic, artistic, athletic, inclusive, and holistic excellence. These key areas will guide our path forward. These areas reflect our strengths and passions, the heart of who we are, and the opportunities we see before us. With our eyes set on continued growth and success, the updated plan also sharpens our focus on enrollment, retention, and financial sustainability. We’ve named these as our primary concerns and opportunities and, from them, we’ve developed clear and measurable goals to track our progress and celebrate our collective achievements.
The updated strategic plan is not a departure from our previous strategic plan, but rather a purposeful evolution of it to help us achieve a tangible set of key results. I’m so pleased that we had such a solid foundation from which to build with the “Concordia Leads” strategic plan; this has allowed us to strengthen our commitment to the college mission while adapting to meet the needs of this moment — growth, campus vibrancy, all-encompassing excellence, and financial sustainability. By focusing our efforts to achieve the updated strategic plan, we are ensuring that Concordia remains strong, delivering a transformational education for today’s students and for generations of Cobbers to come.
The plan’s success depends on everyone working together with clarity and purpose. I ask you to embrace this plan as a guide for your daily work and support and prayers for the college. I’m convinced that the years ahead are filled with potential, and I have full confidence that, hearts together, we will reach new heights of excellence.
