As director of the Career Center, Jill is a passionate advocate for students. She is deeply committed to ensuring that every student has access to the tools, connections, and opportunities needed to achieve their career goals. She works closely with the Career Center team and colleagues across campus to provide support, resources, and connections that are inclusive and tailored to each student’s unique journey.
Jill’s undergraduate degree is in criminal justice from Bemidji State University, and she completed her Master of Science in educational leadership/student affairs from Minnesota State University Moorhead in Summer 2022. In addition, Jill is a SHRM Certified Professional with the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM). Her diverse work experience includes careers in criminal justice, local government, human resources, and higher education.
In college, picking a major was difficult for Jill. She didn’t settle on something until her junior year in college. After graduating, Jill worked in the field of restorative justice and was the founding coordinator of the Clay County Restorative Justice Program in Moorhead. She then worked for the City of Moorhead in multiple roles including city clerk, assistant city manager, and human resources director. Due to her human resources experience, working as the employer relations lead for the Career Center was a smooth transition.
Her favorite part about working at Concordia College is the students. She says, “I want students to view the Career Center as a source of support. We do more than provide help on resumes. We can facilitate connections with employers, alumni, and others to help students make informed career decisions. You never know when a meaningful connection could change the course of your career. Often that is the way careers evolve.”
Jill loves to watch movies and TV series. She enjoys getting recommendations from others, and she’s started a “watchlist” to track and rate what she’s viewed.
