In early August of 1993, a boy from Billings, Montana had a dream that God was calling him to go to Concordia College. It didn’t matter that he had a full-ride scholarship to the University of Montana. It didn’t matter that he had never set foot on Concordia’s campus. He just knew that he needed to go to Concordia. Due to the generosity of donors, he would be able to attend Concordia, where he would hear Pastor Carl Lee’s famous Whobody speech during Orientation. Within the first month, he received Whobody mail from a fellow member of the Concordia College Band, a girl from Montevideo, Minnesota. That same week, the couple had their first date at Wednesday night Communion, took an evening stroll around Prexy’s Pond, and had their first kiss at the Homecoming Dance. Four years later, the couple would get married, eventually starting a family and continuing to support Concordia College.
Lynette Kroll ’96 majored in mathematics and economics. She has primarily used her computer science minor through her career in Information Technology. Brian Kroll ’97 majored in political science and has held a variety of jobs in the mortgage banking industry. We created this scholarship because without the generosity of previous donors, we would have never met. It is our hope that a future recipient of the Whobody Endowed Scholarship will hear Pastor Carl Lee’s famous speech and be inspired to find their own Whobody at Concordia College.
The Whobody Endowed Scholarship is awarded by the Office of Financial Aid to one or more students of any class or major who are from either Montana or Minnesota.
