Concordia chooses new dean for Sanford Heimarck School of Health Professions
Concordia College has named Dr. Sarah Lee as the new dean of the Sanford Heimarck School of Health Professions. Lee will begin her new role Sept. 1.
Lee comes to Concordia after spending more than two decades working for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most recently as a branch chief in the Division of Readiness and Response Science. She previously worked for the CDC as a team lead and health scientist, where she helped lead national chronic disease prevention and management programs for schools and served on the CDC’s emergency preparedness and response leadership team during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to her work at the CDC, Lee has taught various health courses at Georgia State University over the past 10 years.
As dean, Lee will lead SHSHP, which brings together Concordia’s academic programs preparing students for careers in a diverse range of health professions — from leadership to direct client or patient care. She also will have an opportunity to advance the work of the Center for Population Health.
Lee holds a doctorate in exercise, wellness, and public health from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in community health promotion from the University of Montana, and a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science from the University of Minnesota.
“Dr. Lee brings a strong combination of public health expertise, leadership experience, and an interdisciplinary perspective to this role,” said Dr. Susan Larson, dean and provost of Concordia. “Her ability to turn plans into action, develop strong partnerships, and bring new perspectives will be valuable to the Sanford Heimarck School of Health Professions and Concordia. I’m thrilled that Sarah has accepted this position and look forward to welcoming her to our community.”
