Concordia College offers free tax assistance through VITA program

Concordia College is once again offering free tax assistance through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. This longstanding community service, supported by the IRS, provides essential tax preparation services for low-to-moderate income individuals and taxpayers age 60-plus.

The program, which has run for more than 30 years at Concordia, will run 6-9 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays Feb. 3-27, 2025, with the exception of Feb 6.

Work will be completed on a first-come, first-served basis, but people are asked not to arrive before 5:30 p.m.

It will be held in room 118 of the Grant Center. The Grant Center is located on the southeast corner of Eighth Street and 12th Avenue South. Parking is available in the back of the building in Lot G6. Room 118 is located on the main floor.

Through the VITA program, IRS-certified student volunteers will prepare and electronically file basic tax returns. It is open to individuals with an income of less than $67,000 per year as well as older taxpayers.

To ensure efficient service, participants must bring the following items:

  • All W-2 forms
  • A valid photo ID
  • A Social Security card for each individual listed on the return
  • A blank check or bank account and routing numbers for direct deposit of refunds
  • For married couples, both spouses must be present
  • Minnesota renters should bring Form CRP (Certificate of Rent Paid) provided by their landlords
