Concordia College has named Erica Johnsrud ’10 as its next director of alumni and family engagement. A proud alumna and experienced relationship-builder, Johnsrud will step into the role in early December, bringing with her more than a decade of leadership in nonprofit development, community engagement, corporate learning, and mission-driven programming.
Johnsrud, who graduated from Concordia with degrees in communication studies and sociology, has built a career centered on elevating people, strengthening communities, and creating meaningful experiences. Her professional path includes more than 10 years with Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley, public-facing brand and community relations work with Dale Carnegie Training, and most recently, leadership in learning and development at RDO Equipment Company. Across roles, she has been known for her energy, authenticity, and commitment to building networks that inspire belonging and connection.

“As a Concordia alumna, I experienced firsthand the lifelong power of connection that this community creates,” Johnsrud said. “My time at Concordia taught me what it means to belong to a mission-driven network built on shared values, pride, and responsibility. I am honored to activate and expand the Concordia network and am so excited to join the campus community in being a cheerleader for all Cobbers of every generation!”
Johnsrud’s enthusiasm for people, and for celebrating what brings them together, has been a defining thread throughout her personal and professional life. From leading a capital campaign and managing donor stewardship efforts to designing leadership programs, volunteer experiences, and large-scale community events, she has consistently focused on fostering connection, gratitude, and engagement.
Jenny Olson ’01, vice president for advancement and chief executive strategy officer, said Johnsrud’s combination of professional expertise, personal warmth, and deep commitment to Concordia’s mission make her an exceptional fit for the role.
“Erica brings an extraordinary blend of strategic experience, relational talent, and Cobber spirit,” Olson said. “Her passion for community, her ability to create meaningful experiences, and her instinct for building authentic relationships align perfectly with our vision for alumni and family engagement. We are thrilled to welcome her back to Concordia and know she will be a tremendous champion for the Concordia community.”
As director of alumni and family engagement, Johnsrud will lead efforts to deepen connections among alumni, families, and the college by designing signature programs, cultivating volunteer engagement, strengthening regional and affinity networks, and fostering lifelong Cobber pride.
Concordia College looks forward to welcoming Johnsrud back to campus as she steps into this vital leadership role and continues her journey of building community and inspiring connection.
