The Gooseberry Park Players return to the Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre stage for the first time since 2014, bringing past and future Cobbers for the summer theatre program’s 43rd season.
Four students involved in the show are incoming Concordia College students: Evan Froslie, Isaac Leiseth, Allie Skauge, and Cade Klein. Managing artistic director Scott Brusven and pit conductor Jo Marie Fike are both Concordia alumni.
Gooseberry Park Players is a summer theatre program focused on providing students aged 11 through recent high school graduates with an educational and multigenerational theatre experience.
The tuition-free program allows students to be involved in a production both on stage and off. Acting students participate in daily classes in singing, acting, and dancing; technical theatre students take daily classes in construction, lighting, sound, painting, and costume construction, as well as assisting with building the set and costumes for each summer’s production.
The Gooseberry Park Players have had a long relationship with Concordia, with most of the theatre company’s performances taking place at Concordia.
This year, Gooseberry Park Players is putting on “Shrek the Musical,” a whimsical reimagining of the 2001 fairy tale comedy of the same name.
Performances are set for 7 p.m. July 24-25 and 2 p.m. July 26 in the Frances Frazier Comstock Theatre.
Tickets are available at GooseberryParkPlayers.org/Tickets.
