FERGUS FALLS — Kennedy Secondary School band students had the unique opportunity to learn from Concordia College Professor Dr. Nathaniel Dickey on May 7, with jazz band students being joined by Dickey for their final concert of the 2025-26 school year.

Dickey was brought to Fergus Falls by Kennedy Secondary School Band Director Josh McGowan, who attended Concordia College largely due to the welcome he received from Dickey prior to his freshman year, when determining which college would provide him with the best experience. Years later, the men remain in contact.

Dickey explained that he was invited by McGowan, who he worked closely with during McGowan's time as a student conductor for the Concordia pep band, directed by Dickey.

"I really believe in the power of music to connect people, build harmony and a sense of community, and increase the well-being of students, educators and the public," Dickey said.
