MOORHEAD, Minn. — Concordia College, in partnership with the Center for a New American Security and with support from NATO Public Diplomacy, will host foreign dignitaries for a public event as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization celebrates its 75th anniversary this year. A panel discussion, titled “NATO at 75: Reflections, Relevance and Future Challenges,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Barry Auditorium, located on the west side of Grant Center, home of the Offutt School of Business.
NATO’s anniversary celebrations this year have been muted due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and increasing concerns from Europe about U.S. commitments to transatlantic security, as well as an evolving and increasingly complex strategic environment.
Panelists will discuss NATO’s historical achievements, current challenges, and its evolving role in transatlantic security. Distinguished guests include:
- Anniken Huitfeldt, Norwegian Ambassador to the United States
- Adam KrzywosÄ…dzki, Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Poland
- Mark Newton, Minister Defence (Director USA), British Embassy
- Dr. John Deni, Research Professor, U.S. Army War College's Strategic Studies Institute
Dr. Rebecca Moore, NATO scholar and political science professor at Concordia College, will moderate the discussion. Following the panel, there will be a Q&A session, providing the audience an opportunity to engage with the speakers.
The panel will be recorded for CNAS’s Brussels Sprouts podcast, which has a significant following in both the U.S. and Europe.
The event is free and open to the public.
