CONCORDIA PRESENTS APOLLO CHAMBER PLAYERS IN CONCERT

Residency includes free teaching events for the public

Concordia’s Cultural Events will present the Apollo Chamber Players at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, in Christiansen Recital Hall, Hvidsten Hall of Music. They’ll be joined by Concordia piano professor Dr. Grigor Khachatryan.

The Apollo Chamber Players is renowned for its innovative, globally inspired programming and multicultural music commissions. Winner of Chamber Music America’s Residency Partnership award, the quartet has performed for sold-out audiences at Carnegie Hall and is the first American chamber ensemble to record and perform in Cuba since the embargo relaxation.

As a passionate advocate of contemporary music, Apollo launched a project to commission 20 multicultural works by the end of the decade. 20×2020 features a roster of the world’s leading composers. The group has collaborated with renowned ensembles and partners with schools, universities and other organizations to provide performances, educational programs, and entrepreneurship lectures.

In addition to the public performance, Apollo’s residency March 9, 11, and 12 will include master classes for string instruments, a Music and Entrepreneurship Showcase presentation and panel discussion, and a chamber music master class and Q&A with prolific composer Libby Larsen. The residency events are free and open to the public. The schedule can be found at ConcordiaCollege.edu/CulturalEvents.

Tickets for the evening performance are $20 for adult general admission and $18 for seniors and $10 for students. For tickets, visit ConcordiaTickets.com or call the Office of Cultural Events at (218) 299-4366. Masks are required.
