CONCORDIA TO PRESENT CONVERSATION WITH AUTHOR JON KRAKAUER

Jon Krakauer, the author of eight books and a recipient of an Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, will speak on the art of writing and his best-selling book, “Missoula,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the Centrum, Knutson Campus Center.

Krakauer’s “Missoula” was the 2018-19 Concordia Campus Book Read selection and documents the experiences of five victims of sexual assault in Missoula, Mont. A typical college town and home to a highly regarded state university, Krakauer’s research states Missoula had more than 300 reported sexual assaults from January 2008 to May 2012.

Krakauer is a preeminent writer of narrative nonfiction. His best-selling books include “Where Men Win Glory,” “Under the Banner of Heaven,” “Into the Wild” and “Into Thin Air.” He is also editor of the Modern Library Exploration series. According to the award citation from the Academy, “Krakauer combines the tenacity and courage of the finest tradition of investigative journalism with the stylish subtlety and profound insight of the born writer.”

The event is free and open to the public.
