CONCORDIA CELEBRATES MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY

Concordia College will be reflecting on the life and influence of Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, Jan. 20. This year’s theme is “’Not Racist’ – A White Moderate Myth.” All events are free and open to the public.

Events throughout the day include keynote speeches at 9:45 a.m. from Janaya Khan, an activist known as “Future” within the Black Lives Matter movement; and at 1:30 p.m. from Ijeoma Oluo, a Seattle-based writer, speaker and Internet Yeller, and New York Times Best-Selling author of “So You Want to Talk About Race.”

A panel discussion from 4:15-5:30 p.m. includes the keynote speakers joined by Erin Maye Quade, advocacy director at Gender Justice and former Minnesota State Representative; and Heather Keeler, an enrolled member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe, an advocate for equitable and inclusive practices, and serves on the Fargo Native American Commission and Moorhead Human Rights Commission.

Khan and Oluo will speak in Memorial Auditorium and the Panel Discussion will be held in the Centrum, Knutson Campus Center.
