CONCORDIA INVITES COMMUNITY TO DISCUSSION ON

FAITH, WORK AND FLOURISHING

“Vocation at Work Today: What is the Christian Calling?”

The final 2021-22 Community Conversation of the academic year presented by the Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work, part of the Concordia College Offutt School of Business, is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12. The event is a hybrid in-person and virtual conversation in Barry Auditorium in the Grant Center. “Vocation at Work Today: What is the Christian Calling?” features a conversation with Wanda Deifelt and Darby Kathleen Ray.

Work in America is changing in many and new ways. Only one-third of Americans today are engaged with work and love what they do. The disengaged want to find better work. Work today challenges everyone seeking flourishing life. The event will explore what is the work ethic of a Christian today and how should Christians respond to the realities of work — for themselves and others? How should Christians discern their callings?

Deifelt, an ordained pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in her native Brazil, is professor of religion at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Ray is the Donald W. and Ann M. Harward Professor of Civic Engagement at Bates College, where she also is professor of religious studies and director of the Harward Center for Community Partnerships.

The event is free. Please register at ConcordiaCollege.edu/businessevents. Call 218.299.3305 for more information. A link will be sent after registration for those choosing the virtual option.
