CONCORDIA INVITES COMMUNITY TO DISCUSSION ON BURNOUT CULTURE

"Getting a Life: Finding Meaning Beyond Employment" set for Jan. 25

The second 2021-22 Community Conversation presented by the Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work, part of the Concordia College Offutt School of Business, is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25. The event is a hybrid in-person and virtual conversation in Barry Auditorium in the Grant Center. "Getting a Life: Finding Meaning Beyond Employment" features Jonathan Malesic.

Malesic is a leading American thinker on work and author of the ground-breaking book, "The End of Burnout: Why Work Drains Us and How to Build Better Lives."

Malesic will discuss the record rates of employee turnover changing the American workplace. New expectations for personal well-being and fulfillment are provoking workers to leave their jobs, often without another in hand. Employees are quitting most often because they feel undervalued and do not find belonging. In pandemic times, they seek purposeful work and meaningful participation. Work needs to matter more than ever. How does work need to change to support human flourishing?

The event is free. Please register at ConcordiaCollege.edu/businessevents. Call 218.299.3305 for more information. A link will be sent after registration for those choosing the virtual option.
