CONCORDIA TO HOST PANEL DISCUSSION WITH LOCAL FARMERS
A panel discussion, “Farming for the Future: Cultivating Resilience in a Changing Climate,” will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in Barry Auditorium, Grant Center at Concordia.
The Concordia Office of Sustainability and Offutt School of Business along with the nonprofit organization FARRMS (Foundation for Agricultural and Rural Resource Management) will sponsor the event featuring local farmers Nick Vinje, Bryan Simon, Doug Voss and the organization CommonGround North Dakota.
Farmers across the country work hard to produce the food that we all need, yet their creativity, innovation, and perseverance often goes unnoticed. At this panel discussion, local farmers will tell their stories of how they work to be good stewards of the land as they confront changing conditions and new challenges. Good stewardship is the basis of any healthy, sustainable farm business, and there are many methods used to maintain the health of agricultural fields and pastures. North Dakota and Minnesota producers are actively tailoring their farming practices to match their soils to attain the best yield, nutrition, flavor, safety and sustainability.
