CONSERVATIVE DISCUSSION ON CLIMATE CHANGE
Concordia College is one of the stops on an 11-stop EnCourage Tour 2017 by Bob Inglis, former member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Inglis will speak on “Solving Climate Change with Courage and Conservatism,” followed by a town hall style Q&A. The event is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in Barry Auditorium, Grant Center.
Inglis is promoting his organization republicEn and building conservative support for using the power of free enterprise to tackle climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. RepublicEn is generating a grassroots movement of conservatives calling on political leaders to unite for action on climate change.
Inglis was elected to Congress in 1992 and represented Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C., from 1993-98 and 2004-10. In 2011, he went fulltime into promoting free enterprise action on climate change and launched the Energy and Enterprise Initiative (E&EI), an educational outreach that works to demonstrate how free enterprise can deliver the innovation needed to solve climate change faster than government regulations could. For his work on climate change, Inglis was given the 2015 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. He grew up in South Carolina and went to Duke University and the University of Virginia School of Law. He practiced commercial real estate law before and between his years in Congress.
The visit by Inglis supports Concordia’s work as a signatory of the Integrated Climate Commitment.
