COLUMNIST DAVID BROOKS
David Brooks, a New York Times columnist, author and commentator, will speak on “Faith, Learning, and the Arts of Citizenship,” at a presentation as part of Concordia’s celebration of 125 years. The lecture will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, in Memorial Auditorium.
Brooks’ column on the Op-Ed page of The New York Times started in 2003. He is a prolific author and his most recent book, “The Road to Character,” illustrates how character is developed through the story of 10 great lives. He is a regular analyst on “PBS NewsHour” and NPR’s “All Things Considered.” He has been a senior editor at The Weekly Standard; a contributing editor at Newsweek and the Atlantic Monthly; worked at The Wall Street Journal; and as a police reporter for the City News Bureau, a wire service jointly owned by the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times. A native of Canada, Brooks obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago. In 2010, Brooks became a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
The event is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are limited to four per person and no online ticketing is available. Tickets are available beginning Jan. 23 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Memorial Auditorium Box Office.
