CONCORDIA TO HOST “BUILD THE DAMN THING”

A Lorentzsen Center + Black Student Union Event

Moorhead, Minn.--The Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work continues its exploration of the question “How do we build a more trustworthy world?” in January’s: “Building the Damn Thing: A Lorentzsen Center + Black Student Union Event” featuring Kathryn Finney from noon-1 p.m. CST Wednesday, Jan. 25. The event is a hybrid in-person (limited seating) and virtual conversation in Barry Auditorium in the Grant Center.

This keynote conversation features Finney, bestselling author, serial entrepreneur, venture capital investor, and managing partner of Genius Guild, a $20 million dollar venture fund and studio that invests in amazing Black founders.

One of the most influential women in tech (Inc. Magazine), Finney’s groundbreaking work has laid the foundation for generations of black entrepreneurs and investors. On the heels of the events of the summer of 2020, Finney created Genius Guild to invest in Black entrepreneurs building scalable businesses that serve black communities and beyond. She raised investment from a number of partners including Pivotal Ventures, an investment and incubation company founded by Melinda Gates; Impact Seat, an investment company led by serial investor Barbara Clarke; and individual investors such as Andrew Bosworth (Facebook) and the Lorenzini Family (Docusign).

The event is free. You’re invited to bring your own lunch to the in-person event. Please register at LorentzsenCenter.com. Call 218.299.3305 for more information. A link will be sent after registration for those choosing the virtual option.
