CONCORDIA INVITES COMMUNITY TO DISCUSSION ON
FAITH, WORK AND FLOURISHING

“What Do They Mean for Young People?”

The third 2021-22 Community Conversation presented by the Lorentzsen Center for Faith and Work, part of the Concordia College Offutt School of Business, is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8. The event is a hybrid in-person and virtual conversation in Barry Auditorium in the Grant Center. “Faith, Work and Flourishing: What Do They Mean for Young People” features a conversation with Dr. Melinda Lundquist Denton and Dr. Josh Packard.

Most people find meaning in faith communities, but increasingly, Americans consider various beliefs and practices in our pluralistic society and make meaning for themselves independent of institutions. The speakers will discuss striving for a meaningful life and how young people are negotiating contemporary culture as they seek to understand the world, form identities, and take up places in society.

Lundquist Denton, professor of sociology at the University of Texas at San Antonio, earned her doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her research examines the intersection of religion and family life in the United States, with a focus on adolescents and emerging adults. Packard is executive director of Springtide Research Institute and an accomplished researcher and speaker on young people in America, specializing in their spirituality and their relationship with religious groups and faith leaders. He earned his doctorate in sociology from Vanderbilt University and did his undergraduate work in English at Texas Lutheran University.

The event is free. Please register at ConcordiaCollege.edu/businessevents. Call 218.299.3305 for more information. A link will be sent after registration for those choosing the virtual option.
