Rep. Ruth Buffalo to Speak at Commencement

REP. RUTH BUFFALO TO SPEAK AT CONCORDIA COMMENCEMENT

Rep. Ruth Buffalo, the first Native American Democratic woman elected to the North Dakota Legislature, will speak at the commencement ceremony at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 1. Buffalo and Dr. Edie Hill will also receive honorary degrees during the ceremony.

Buffalo earned an undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Si Tanka University, master’s degrees in management and business administration from the University of Mary and a master’s in public health from North Dakota State University. Hill is a composer whose work was recently performed by The Concordia Choir on this year’s tour. She earned a bachelor’s in music composition and piano performance at Bennington College and earned her master’s and doctorate from the University of Minnesota.

Approximately 362 will participate in the ceremony and Concordia will present 354 Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Music degrees, two Master of Education degrees, and six Master of Science degrees, in Memorial Auditorium.

Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering more than 50 majors, including 17 honors majors and 13 preprofessional programs.
