Top 5 Things to Look Forward to During Homecoming Weekend
Every year, the college comes alive as current students, recent graduates and alumni from across generations celebrate Concordia Homecoming. Everyone has their own favorite Homecoming traditions; these are just a few of the things that make Homecoming at Concordia an incredibly special time.
Alumni
With a little brother as a freshman this year, I am so excited for this new class of Cobbers to experience Homecoming for the first time. With this, the many alumni that will be present on campus is the perfect representation of just how special this campus truly is. Graduates just one year and even 50 years post college will gather with equal amounts of pride and love to celebrate this institution. How neat is that? Super neat! And on top of all of that goodness … all of their cute babies wearing Cobber gear!
Football Game and Tailgating
Of course, a significant highlight of the weekend is the football game! Our Cobbs will be taking on the Gusties this weekend, and it’s a game not to be missed. On top of some good ol’ football, this is a great opportunity to spend some time with friends or family and eat some good food!
Homecoming Magic!
One of my favorite parts of Homecoming is the spirit of it. It might be the glittering maroon and gold gleam & stream everywhere I look, but there is very distinct magic on campus during Homecoming. This week and weekend is full of events that showcase the talents and skills of the people that make this place Concordia, from Frosh Frolics to the Homecoming Concert.
Parade
The parade is a chance for groups on campus to show off a little! We have countless groups doing some cool stuff, from music to medicine, and everything in between. Support your friends and get loads of candy while you’re at it!
Time With Those Who Matter
During what can be a hectic time of year, this weekend provides an opportunity for us to both pause and celebrate. For those coming back to campus, it is a chance to reconnect with individuals who had a profound impact on their own college experience. We host numerous Alumni Breakfasts on Saturday morning for this very reason! For current students and faculty/staff, it is an opportunity to celebrate their time at Concordia with those that have made it special.
