Dr. Dwight J. Peterson

I am a cognitive psychologist specializing in human memory research. My fascination with human cognition started as an undergraduate student at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA. I worked with Dr. Otto MacLin and Dr. Kim MacLin researching topics related to Eyewitness Memory and the Perception of Race. After completing a B.A. and M.A. at UNI, I moved to Reno, NV where I worked with Dr. Marian Berryhill and was a founding member of the Memory and Brain Lab at the University of Nevada, Reno. At UNR I began using EEG/ERP and tDCS techniques to advance my research repertoire and examine the neural mechanisms underlying working memory processes. After finishing my Ph.D. at UNR, I moved to Columbia, MO to join Dr. Moshe Naveh-Benjamin's Memory and Cognitive Aging Lab at the University of Missouri as a postdoctoral fellow. At Mizzou, I started examining working memory and episodic memory processes in older adults. Now at Concordia College, my goal for the Concordia Memory Collective (CMC) is to continue to make meaningful contributions to the field of human memory research by examining these cognitive processes at the behavioral and neural level. To this end, the overarching goal of the CMC is to train students at Concordia to become responsibly engaged in the world of psychological science.
