Dr. Philip C. Lemaster

Associate Professor of Psychology Psychology, Women's and Gender Studies, Master of Science in Nutrition/Dietetic Internship
Prior to arriving at Concordia in Fall 2014, I received my B.A. (Psychology, French, Gender Studies; magna cum laude) and M.A. (Psychology) from Marietta College and my Ph.D. in Life-span Developmental Psychology from West Virginia University under the mentorship of Dr. JoNell Strough. I am a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American Psychological Association, and the Gerontological Society of America.

My academic interests lie in life-span development and aging. I regularly teach courses on these topics, as well as undergraduate and graduate statistics courses. In my teaching, I aim to help students more fully understand the aging process, confront and overcome biases they hold about older adults, and develop empathy for their elders, often through direct interaction and relationship building with older people in our community. When I'm not on campus, you can find me socializing with assisted-living residents, reading, building LEGO, or cuddling my pets.
