No matter how you slice it, students everywhere can agree that pizza is a college staple. Whether you want a quick, cheap slice or a gourmet restaurant experience, Fargo-Moorhead has plenty of options for you. Here are our top seven picks (plus an honorable mention) for pizza in the area. Bon appétit!

Rhombus Guys – Awesome Atmosphere

At Rhombus Guys, coloring “on the table” is expected and encouraged. This casual, unique restaurant often uses parchment paper as tablecloths and hands out crayons no matter your age. There’s even a cart of board games to keep you entertained while you wait. Open until 2 a.m. with the kitchen open until midnight, Rhombus Guys is an excellent place to grab some pizza any time of day or night. Choose from 34 gourmet pizzas, including award-winning creations like the T-Rex or The Backpacker.

Blaze Pizza – Most Customizable

Blaze Pizza lets you create your pizza exactly how you want it. Set up like an assembly line, you can choose the ingredients for your perfect baked pie entree while it’s made in front of you. There are eight specialty pizzas along with four sauces, eight types of cheese, several meat and veggie options, and toppings such as arugula and bbq drizzle. One thing that makes Blaze Pizza stand out from the rest is the variety of pizza dough. Classic dough, which is vegan, is offered along with gluten free, cauliflower, and keto-friendly dough.

Spicy Pie – Best Bang for Your Buck

A favorite among college students looking for a quick bite to eat, Spicy Pie is a great place to hang out and eat some freshly made pizza. They offer whole pizzas, but the most popular is their pizza by the slice. While you wait, check out the thousands of Sharpie signatures and drawings that cover the walls and booths. You’ll get a sizable slice of pizza for a price that’s wallet friendly, so stop by any of the several locations in the area.

Rustica – Best Happy Hour

The laid-back décor and friendly staff at Rustica in downtown Moorhead make it a comfortable and cool place to grab some pizza. The wood-fired pizza oven is a favorite with pizza lovers and Happy Hour offers $5 off all starters.

Sammy’s Pizza – Commitment to Tradition

Started in Hibbing, Minn., more than 65 years ago, Sammy’s Pizza still uses the traditional Italian recipes created by its founder. Still family run, the business is proud to be in its fourth generation of pizza makers. The homemade secret sauce, freshly made dough, and characteristic square slices are a favorite for many across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. Check out the Fargo location on Broadway across from the Fargo Theatre.

Blackbird Woodfire – Best Quality

Blackbird Woodfire is a family run business with a strong commitment to the local community. The handmade pizza dough is made from North Dakota wheat and milled flour, and all the herbs and produce are seasonal and locally grown to ensure the best quality. You can order one of the signature wood-fired pizzas, like the Sausage Apple or Lumberjack, or create your own personal pizza. You may have even seen Blackwood Woodfire featured on ”Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.”

Pizza Patrol – Best Delivery

For those late night (or early morning) pizza cravings, Pizza Patrol has you covered. They’ll deliver right to your door until 4 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and until 5 a.m. Friday and Saturday. With a $1.75 delivery fee and delicious pizza, Pizza Patrol is a college favorite for a reason. Choose between the classic thin crust or premium pan pizza. If you’re really hungry, add some wings, chicken bites, or breadsticks to your order.

Deeks – Worth Fighting For

After our top seven choices were originally published, we received feedback on social media from some disappointed alumni that Deeks was not included on our list. They made some compelling arguments and we have to agree. The Wisconsin cheese, handmade dough, and deliciously tangy sauce are hard to pass up.
